If My Blog Was A Movie It Would Be A Teen Melodrama

i like to pretend that my tumblr is a teen melodrama set sometime in the late 80s or early 90s in some boring suburban town. it’s kinda like a mix between the existential ramblings of Dazed and Confused and the dumb party scenes of Can’t Hardly Wait with maybe some class warfare stolen from the Outsiders for good measure.you know something that wouldn’t do well in the theater but would get a nice cult following on DVD.

there’d be a smart ass angsty kid who would be the hero, and a hot chick with the face of Rachel Leigh Cook and the ass of Blake Lively that our hero pines for, and his friends would be a nerdy sci-fi/horror loving guy, a punk rock dude, and a smart awkward chick who we all know he’s gonna end up with in the end.

and it would have a killer soundtrack

i have a new band name...

KILLED BY ESKIMOS. it was inspired by tonight's Final Jeopardy question. It was the fate that befell some of the Hudson Mutineers. Who ever heard of violent Eskimos?

It sounds both aggressive and also ridiculous...so it could be used for a punk band or an indie pop group.

Now I just need an actual new band.

maybe i'm biased but if my brother's band Turf War were from Athens they'd be the best band in town. the most fun i've had at a local show in a long long time. that kid might just make it after all. good times.

had a great x-mas vacation. that's the best time i've had in Augusta since i was 17.

but now i'm back in Athens.

i'm officially addicted to my phone. G1 bitches!

i realized the other day that i haven't been doing much list making and that this blog is starting to turn into Justin's daily youtube video posting...which is pretty boring if you ask me. so i promise to get on the list making front.

i read on pitchfork this morning that Ted Leo and Andrew WK are teaming up to do an indie rock Karaoke night in New York. so if you live in the NYC you should do yourself a favor and attend the event December 3 at Studio B in Brooklyn. to say i'm jealous would be a major understatement. when i rank my all time favorite live performers i'd have to put Andre WK and Ted Leo near the top of that list (Fugazi holds down the top spot with the Make Up damn close...but those two have gotta be 3 and 4)

a shoutout to my good friend KennieBloggins who was voted Most Stylish or Best Dressed Teacher (not entirely sure what the exact title was) by his students. it's good to see years of hardwork have finally paid off.
