Bangles doing Big Star

the first time i ever heard "September Gurls" (aka one of my favorite songs ever that misspells the word girl) was when the Bangles did a cover version of it when i was a kid. and now i share that version with you.

i still would totally do it with Susanna Hoffs.

REFUSED ARE STILL FUCKING DEAD

i was listening to Shape Of Punk To Come the other day for probably the first time in several years...it still holds up. too bad it's the album most responsible for opening the floodgates of really bad emo and hardcore bands for a decade to come. i guess Nirvana were guilty of the same thing as well. can't blame the awesome bands for all the shittiness that they wrought.

if i'm ranking best videos of the last 15 years, this wins hands down.

Animal Collective. what's the big deal?

Seriously, maybe I'm just retarded or maybe I just don't get it...but what's the big fucking deal? They're the most overrated band of this decade, in my opinion. For all the shit that got talked about the Strokes at least they had some tunes. I think Animal Collective has put out enough albums that by now id like at least one of em...yeah not so much. Whatever, fuck animal bands. I just want animal crackers.

my favorite video of the 90s

thanks to OJ for reminding me of this.

this was my favorite video ever in highschool. the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion "Flavor (remix)" featuring a rapping Beck pretending to be Steven Tyler with the Blues Explosion as Run DMC...and a guest cameo by Mike D. this video pretty much sums up high school for me.

god i used to love me some Jon Spencer. here's a bonus Blue Explosion youtube vid of the band doing my favorite of their songs "2 Kindsa Love".

my crush on Yelle is pretty much out of control

SO IN LOVE

this video makes me feel all funny.

The Night Thurston and Beck blew my 16 year old mind

one of the truly great moments in the history of MTV and the 90s in general.

Thurston Moore’s guest host spot on 120 Minutes (greatest show ever!!!) where he interviews a very young Beck. this was right when "Loser" was first coming out. Beck gave the strangest interview i’d ever seen at the time and then Mike D from the Beastie Boys shows up to promote their summer tour with Johnny Cash, Donovan, Oprah, Nirvana, and Smashing Pumpkins and then the 3 of them do some noiserock/rap improv at the end. total joy.

does anyone have my copy of HATED?

GG Allin...still dead.

thought of the day

i think the reason most bands write songs about teenage girls is because the word teen rhymes with lots of things. also guys in rock bands are perverts.
