Radio Birdman "New Race" 1977
listening to Radio Birdman reminds of this time i was playing a show in Cincinnati and this kid in the crowd was really pissed off at us because my band were wearing arm bands and he kept saying we were ripping off Radio Birdman (who obviously invented the concept of armbands) and i refused to respond to him. then later in the show i had my back turned to the crowd and someone ran up on stage and dropped a trashcan over my head, knocking me to the ground. i threw the trash can off of me and turned around to see who did it and i made eye contact with the Radio Birdman kid and so i jumped off the stage and grabbed a plastic folding chair and hit him across the back with it. then i got back on stage and finished our set. after the show was over i found out that he wasn’t even the one who had dumped the trash can on me and instead that it had been a member of the opening band, who was pissed off that noone had bothered to watch them play. so i felt like an asshole and went and apologized to the Radio Birdman kid, but he told me he was super stoked about me smashing him with a chair and told me that had turned him into a fan of us instantly. so i gave him a free t-shirt and bought him a beer. the lesson of this story is that you should hit people with chairs if they don’t like you and then afterwards you will be friends.

The Agenda and Turf War, next Saturday @ The Soul Bar

Los Agendas will in Augusta next Saturday night doing battle with our friends Turf War. it's gonna be a whole lot of boys trying to pretend they are either in the Stooges or the Replacements. which should be a drunken good time for everyone there. if it were Masters Week then Tiger Woods would show up, but it's not...so instead hopefully the city of Augusta will come out and say hello.

Hey, We Are On The Cover Of The Flagpole
Hey look mom, they put me on the cover of a magazine.

the FLAGPOLE wrote a nice article about the Kindercore Records/ Owl Scooters music festival this weekend. (Thurs-Sat for all the kids keeping score at home.) tons of awesome local Athens/Atlanta bands plus you might win a scooter. this is mostly gonna result in me being drunk for 4 days straight instead of just 2. such is life.

Agenda footage from Athfest

stole this pic from abandoned couches. thanx for posting the video btw.
ah, the internet...instant access to things that just happened....instantly.
a nice review from the flagpole.
Mat ruled. i jumped on his drumset and knocked everything over but he kept screaming and playing. it was my favorite moment of the night.

plus some video.
i have no idea how this sounds cuz i deleted the soundcard from my computer on accident. listen at your own risk.
This Ain't No Fashion Show
You Give Me Hot Pants
Strike Like A Viper
watching one's self on video perfectly puts into context how fat i have gotten in 5 years.
thanks again to everyone who came out Saturday night though, it meant a lot. i'm hoping someone filmed me doing "Party Hard" with the Buddy System. it you've got a link, send if my way.

Hey Athens, Come Out To CINE' on Saturday Night

so it's come to this. 5 years ago i was caught up in my silly dreams to become a rockstar...or at least be in a moderately successful band that toured the country, put out albums, and got to be on Letterman and SNL at least once. things went pretty well for a while...we toured the country, released an album, toured the UK a couple of times where we had some good press and a couple of minor hits on the British rock charts...but like all things that i am involved with it eventually fell apart and so i began my 5 year journey into the blah-ness of adulthood...which wasn't really that bad. i mean i had a lot more time to devote to college football (which is always a good thing) and i didn't have to deal with being hungover in Lincoln, Nebraska at 7 AM and then drive to Salt Lake City all day to play in front of a bunch of Mormon punk rock kids. but yeah, i still pretty much missed playing music and getting crazy and acting like a teenager in front of a room full of drunks...
...and so that leads us to this weekend as my old band THE AGENDA! is about to play our first live show together in five years during the KINDERCORE records showcase (our old record label) on Saturday Night as part of Athfest 2009. we're the opening act of a 5 band bill...which is def for the best as the longer we waited to play the more wasted we'd all be. there are few things i have ever enjoyed more in my life than playing live music in front of humans and i fully intend to lose my fucking shit and possibly break a bone (i've got broken ribs from my old antics) or throw out my back (BEING OLD IS STUPID). and let's be honest, who doesn't like a little blood on the dancefloor at a rockshow? if you don't know, my band is pretty much just loud, energetic, ridiculous garage punk, heavily influenced by bands like Black Flag, The Ramones, and the Kinks all mashed into one big dumb ball of punk noise....but trying to describe it is kinda pointless when you can just listen for yourself.
anyways if you are planning on attending Athfest this year and you're in the mood for some dumb as hell garage rock then come out to CINE' and see us play. we're scheduled to start at 10:15 and our set will be over in less than 30 minutes. and hey the FLAGPOLE has us listed as one of their bands "Not to Miss" during Athfest 09...and when has the Flagpole ever steared you wrong. but i must warn you, the link features a picture of a 24 year old JR Suicide with a terrible haircut that makes me look like the lost Hanson Brother.
once the Agenda has destroyed our equipment and left a trail of chaos in our wake you should stick around and catch a few of the other bands as well. Grape Soda will be playing their spacey dub-rock, The Young Sinclairs (who fucking rule) will become your new favorite band with their 60's/Byrds influenced pop, and then cartoon rockers the Buddy System will close out the night with their completely fun mix of animation and pop...
plus i'm performing a super-secret song with them at the end of the night that should turn Cine' into a riot. the words: Party, Hard, & Andrew WK are my hints for you.
so anyways Athens, GA...i wanna see you there on Saturday Night.

Shameless Reunion Show plug

my old band THE AGENDA! is playing our first show in 5 years in a few weeks. we're the opening band of the Kindercore Records Showcase @ CINE' (that's the arthouse theater downtown) during Athfest 09 on June 23rd. the show is supposed to start at 10.
i think all of that info is correct.
anyways if you love things that are dumb/simple/drunk then come out an enjoy some old dudes trying to recapture their youth and playing loud obnoxious garage rock like it's still the year 2002. if anything the potential train wreck is worth it...also you get to see me roll around on the floor and jump off shit like a maniac and possibly hurt myself, all for the love of rock n' roll.

AGENDA 2: The ReAgenda-ing
The Agenda...now older, fatter, balder, and with beards.

so after 5 years of inactivity, my old band THE AGENDA is calling it a comeback...or at least an attempt at a comeback and entering into the whole rock n roll circus, again. we had our first band practice together in over 5 years and i suddenly remember that singing is actually kinda difficult, especially when you haven't done it in a long ass time. right now my voice is somewhere between sorority girl and throat cancer survivor after two hours of doing my best Iggy Pop and Mark Arm impressions. also trying to remember lyrics to songs you wrote when you were 23 and 24 is like way hard when you are 30 and havent heard any of them in half a decade. and they only have like 12 wors per song...short term memory loss is a motherfucker! regardless it's good to be back with a band again as i've definitely gotten bored and old in the last several years.
anyways we are playing Athfest at the end of this month and then possibly an out of town show or two before another show here in September.
thankfully we wrote a bunch of the stupidest easiest garage punk songs of all time, or else i might be worried about less than 3 weeks of practice until our first show.

i have a new band name...
KILLED BY ESKIMOS. it was inspired by tonight's Final Jeopardy question. It was the fate that befell some of the Hudson Mutineers. Who ever heard of violent Eskimos?
It sounds both aggressive and also ridiculous...so it could be used for a punk band or an indie pop group.
Now I just need an actual new band.
